“I was introduced to the Lillian Booth Actors Home in 2006 and was immediately drawn to the residents I met on this first engaging tour; experiencing a small snippet of the creative and caring atmosphere of this very special place. I can vividly recall sitting with one of the residents listening to his enthusiastic stories of his days as a film cameraman and I knew then this would not be my last visit. I was instantly hooked, and there began the long creative journey which would become known as An Intimate Encore.
In 2014 my vision for this photographic, documentary project was finally birthed. I had the great privilege to begin a two-year creative journey photographing forty-two of the amazing, creative people who call the Lillian Booth Actors Home…home.”
A selection of the original portraits from An Intimate Encore, are now on permanent view in the new Friedman Pavilion of the Actors Home. In its entirety at completion, this multi-media project will consist of over 50 gelatin silver photographs, video and a published book of the full collection of portraits.
